Amahl and the Night Visitors
Presented by the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra
A tale of the shepherd boy Amahl, his mother, and their miraculous, life-changing encounter with Three Wise Men searching for the Christ Child. Opera singers, Pones Inc. dancers, Madcap Puppets, Xavier Edgecliff Vocal Ensemble and the CCO combine in a performance that is the first of its kind, appealing to all ages. Amahl is played by Mischa Sella, son of our own Gillian Sella '87.
Uri and I would like to invite you to join us at one of Mischa's performances of Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra at Xavier University on 12/21,12/22 or 12/23. This delightful production features 10-foot tall Madcap puppets with the only live characters on stage being our little Mischa as Amahl and a soprano who plays Amahl's mother. The voices of the puppets are sung by a hidden choir made up of wonderful local singers.
We think that this may be one of Mischa's last performances as a boy soprano as he keeps growing! It has been an amazing ride for Mischa. Over the last 18 months he has soloed with the Cincinnati Opera under Maestro Louis Langrée, the Cincinnati May Festival with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Ohio Northern Symphony and he just sang the role of Miles in a CCM opera production of Britten's The Turn of the Screw.
