We are pleased to be returning to the Phoenix for the annual meeting of the Harvard Club of Cincinnati.  The meeting will begin at 5:30 pm. We will vote on 1) a by-laws revision to add one director to the Board and 2) on the new slate of officers and directors for 2015-16.

At 6 pm, there will be a social hour with cash bar.

At 7 pm, we will sit down for a gourmet meal prepared just for us.  Our President, Valerie Bogdan-Powers will announce the results of the election and have a few remarks about the Club this year before she introduces the highlight of our evening, Dr. Peter Bol.  Dr. Bol is Harvard's first Vice Provost for Advances in Learning and is the Charles H. Carswell Professor of East Asian Languages and Civilization. Peter continues to build his direct experience with on-line learning through ChinaX, a year-long course covering the history of China.

HarvardX, the University's strategic initiative to advance learning through technology was created in May of 2012.  In just two years, HarvardX has produced twenty-four open online courses and forty-five learning experiences that have engaged nearly one million people around the world.  The "One University" effort draws upon faculty from ten different Harvard schools, represents disciplines from classics to computing, and incorporates materials from Harvard's museums and libraries.  HarvardX is now on track to produce the equivalent of forty courses and modules per year, making it one of the leading providers of high-quality online learning opportunities.
What have we learned from this?  What does it mean for our residential students?  For our alumni?  And what does it portend for Harvard as the world's leading institution for higher education?

Members of the Harvard Club will have a priority registration period.  Because VP Bol is a recognized leader in his field and much in demand, at the end of priority registration we will open unfilled seats to anyone with an interest in his work.  Alumni wishing to join the HCC to secure a spot can join on this website.

Parking will be available by $2 voucher at the Garfield Garage around the corner from the Phoenix.
