Join HCC President Sean Pollock, your Board of Directors, and fellow alumni, Club members and guests at Northern Row Distillery and Brewery.  Situated in the historic Over-the-Rhine Brewery District, Northern Row Brewery and Distillery

occupies a notable pre-prohibition building, constructed in 1895, and is opening its taproom exclusively for HCC members and their friends. In addition to lively conversation and delightful (free) food and (some free) drink, we will be treated to a tour of the historic facility.

Safety notes:  Northern Row is a large volume space and has an outside area.  Current health guidelines based on high levels of community spread call for anyone unvaccinated to protect themselves indoors by wearing a mask. The HCC Board continues to monitor the local situation.

HISTORY

Situated in the historic Over-the-Rhine Brewery District, Northern Row Brewery and Distillery occupies a notable pre-prohibition building, constructed in 1895.  Convenient to the street car, our friends at Rhinegeist, and all the culinary deliciousness at Findlay Market, imbibers and friends are sure to find endless options in our neighborhood.  

Our name harkens back to our roots prior to the 18th Amendment (Prohibition).  Back then, Liberty Street was the north boundary of Cincinnati city limits.  North of that street was the area known as Northern Row.  It was the heart of the Cincinnati brewing industry.

Today, we pay tribute to our roots as a historic lager house, committed to revisiting traditional lagers but we also look forward, pledged to bring consistent, clean, and flavorful ales that drive the craft beer world today.  Our spirits catalog will similarly mirror our beer portfolio.  Old recipes will meet new, combining to push the envelope while also respecting tradition.

PROJECT SANITIZER

At the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, the American Distilling Institute asked that craft distilleries across the country help to begin the production of much needed Hand Sanitizer for our communities. The mobilization by these often small but resourceful companies has been tremendous, as we pivoted from producing one of life’s great pleasures, to producing something absolutely essential that is needed in the fight of this terrible virus.

Northern Row made the decision to temporarily suspend spirit production and begin production of an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. In cooperation with Dominion Liquid Technologies and several other local businesses, we have quickly organized the needed materials and packaging required to manufacture and package 6 oz. bottles of product.

 

GETTING THERE

As we are centrally located in Over the Rhine, Cincinnati (near Findlay Market) there are many different ways to access Northern Row.  We are conveniently located within walking distance of two public transportation stops.

  • Streetcar: We recommend taking the 100 train to the Brewery District stop!  This puts you at the corner of Elm and Henry Street.  Northern Row is located about 200 feet down Henry Street on the left.

  • Bus: It is possible to take the 21 or 64 bus route to reach Northern Row.  We are located at the Elm and Henry Stop on both of these routes.

  • Driving: Although we recommend other transportation options, driving/parking at Northern Row is a breeze. We recommend getting off I-75 onto Findlay Street and turning left on Elm Street, where you will go two blocks up to McMicken Ave. Once you see the historic APEX building you know you have arrived! Parking can be found on McMicken Ave. where metered and lot parking are available! As a note, we are one block west of Rhinegeist Brewery so this can be used as a reference point.

  • UBER and LIFT: both service our location and can pickup and drop off in our parking lot

  • Lime and Byrd Scooters: A fun way to visit us, but watch out for the streetcar tracks! They can be a dusie if you get your wheel stuck!
