Inspired by Yale University’s celebration in 2019 of 50 years of coeducation at Yale College and 150 years of coeducation at Yale University, the Cincinnati Yale Club is introducing a new initiative for women students/graduates/alumnae and their family and friends.  (Note – as defined by Yale, to be an alum requires only completion of one semester of study…)

Cincinnati Yale Club women are organizing a series of quarterly women’s events, with the primary goal of socializing and an additional informal educational component.  The kickoff will be a downtown evening event, with light hors d’oeuvres and a complimentary cocktail. (Dinner can be ordered at your own expense.) Other events will be held at different times and venues.  Each program will include an approximately 30-minute presentation by one (or more) women, with an opportunity for questions, followed by more general socializing.

In honor of the theme, at the first program, to be held Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the Bay Horse Café from 6-8pm, Barbara Wagner, Yale ’73 (the first 4-year co-educated class), will speak about the early days of coeducation at Yale, putting in perspective how much times have changed in the past 50 years.  In the spring, Gillian Benet Sella, Harvard ’87, will speak about life as a professional musician, generally, and her life as a harpist, currently with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra.  Future speakers may include scientists, surgeons, lawyers, artists, among others. Let us know your ideas!
