Our Leadership Speaker Series features local alumni who have held leadership roles across a variety of industries sharing some key lessons they've learned in their careers with an engaged, interactive audience.

Join us on January 17th, 2020, for the next the Harvard Club of Cincinnati Leadership Speaker Series where we welcome Elise Foster, Ed.M. ’06, Executive Coach, MultipliersTM Master Practitioner, and Co-Author of The Multiplier Effect and Beautiful Questions in the Classroom (forthcoming). Through Leadership Potential Consulting, the company she founded in 2009, she supports leaders and teams to become even more effective by amplifying the intelligence and capability of everyone around them. Her approach to coaching and facilitation is thought-provoking, practical and research based. She has been privileged to work across many different industries, including healthcare, higher education, and manufacturing, working with clients such as the University of Cincinnati, Parker Hannifin Aerospace and Zimmer Biomet.

In this upcoming event, she will share her experience and research regarding what it takes to create (and cultivate) a thriving organization. Expect a lively and interactive discussion as we explore the most common challenges leaders bring into coaching, what it takes to overcome these, and some tips and tools that each of you can put into practice right away. She may even find a way to connect the dots and explain how an engineer (at least this one) made the transition to speaking, writing, and executive coaching (Hint: the Harvard Graduate School of Education was a pivotal moment.)

Get to Know Elise Foster

Elise Foster, a former engineer, brings her systems mindset to bear as she invites leaders to tap into capability and unlock potential. She has a deep passion for helping leaders become better equipped to navigate the increasingly complex demands of work and life. She works with leaders to make lasting change, by uncovering, making sense of, and recasting the underlying beliefs and hidden commitments preventing them from fully realizing their personal leadership vision. Her clients come from many walks of life, including higher education, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail. When reflecting clients describe their coaching experience like this:

“Before coaching, I was frustrated at not making progress on my goals for the department. Now, I am confident in taking action… and, optimistic about the ability to create change.”

“Things were good, but I needed a different approach to communication. I have new tools and self-insight that allows me to be a better communicator. I have a better understanding of my own motivation and biases that were getting in my way of being effective. I walked away from our work with greater self-insight and understanding, which has led to better interactions with my team...”

“You asked me a question no one has EVER asked me… talk about an impactful moment! It helped me to realize some things. You have no idea how much I have grown to deeply appreciate our connection. I came into this skeptical and reluctant… now? I consistently look forward to your outreach!”

In addition to her executive coaching work, Elise has the distinct privilege of sharing the research and ideas behind Multiplier leadership to leaders across the globe, as a co-author of The Multiplier Effect and Multipliers Master Practitioner. Whether she is delivering an engaging, dynamic keynote or working one-on-one with a client, she delights in learning alongside each leader as each of us journeys forward to becoming our biggest and best self.

Elise earned her bachelor’s and first master’s in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech and her second master's  at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She brings nearly two decades of engineering and organizational development experience to her practice. Before starting her business – Leadership Potential Consulting - she first worked in corporate roles, with organizations including Cummins, Inc., General Motors, and The Washington Post, after which she moved into the education realm, working with Harvard University and the Kelley School of Business (Indiana University).

Elise is acertified Immunity to Change coach through Minds at Work and holds an Advanced Certificate in Marshall Goldsmith Stakeholder Centered Coaching. She is also certified to administer the Leadership Circle Profile and Keirsey Temperament Sorter.  When she isn’t out running the streets of Cincinnati, you’ll find her at home with her family, cooking and baking (which is one reason she runs!) or volunteering in the community through her daughter’s Girl Scout troop and school, the Harvard Club Schools Committee, and out globally with the Growth Edge Network. With each activity comes a new learning, and best of all, she finds that many of her best leadership lessons come from her school-age daughter.
